NSBE MAP is happy to announce that we are halfway through the 6th year of our keystone pre-college program, Professional Partners In the Classroom (PPIC). As always, the PPIC program has been filled with laughs and fun engaging activities. The students have taken advantage of the many opportunities, educational enrichment, and life lessons that have become the “STEM” of the program.
This program runs September through April and focuses on empowering and promoting life after high school. The goal of the program is to expose students to STEM through professionals from a similar demographic and bring more awareness to the students about life after high school. Financial stability, STEM related career paths, importance of credit and saving, and interview preparation are a few of the topics discussed throughout the sessions. NSBE MAP partners with a few local organizations and individuals for PPIC.
One of the longstanding supporting organizations is Milwaukee Tool. Milwaukee Tool invited the students to learn about career paths within the organization, take a tour, and get hands on experience with some of the company’s products. The daylong event brought some of the in-class lessons to life and also showed the students the importance of hard work and dedication. The students took away a lot from the event including business cards and networking skills.
This program has grown to have great impact for many students by giving them an encouraging push towards college or other avenues for success (i.e. trades, apprenticeships, entrepreneurship). NSBE MAP is always looking for the next group of individuals and corporations interested in supporting our pre-college initiatives.
